Creating personal and professional development opportunities for
members and for staff aspiring to their roles is a key theme of
AHUA's activities.
In addition to our conferences and regional meetings, we offer
members the following series of development opportunities:
Learning Sets
Access to a network of peers with whom to share and
discuss current issues in a confidential and supportive environment
is invaluable. AHUA Learning Sets enable this to happen by bringing
together members in small groups of 6-8 people, initially for 5
facilitated sessions, to focus on topical work-based issues and to
explore effective ways of dealing with them.
Organisational Consultancy Visits
These visits offer an exceptional opportunity to
experience first-hand the culture and challenges of another
organisation. Over 1-2 days, through observation, discussion and
consultative work with a small group of colleagues, you are
encouraged to reflect and report back on the similarities and
differences between the host organisation and your own. The
knowledge exchange acquired from exposure to an organisation in
another sector can be translated back to your own institution to
great effect.
Coaching
1-1 coaching offers space to explore and reflect on
current work issues in an objective and supportive environment with
a qualified professional coach. To assist with the transition to a
demanding, high-profile role, newly appointed Registrars and AHUA
members have the opportunity to take up a series of four executive
coaching sessions during the first year of their appointment. As an
investment in our new members, the sessions are fully funded by the
Association.
If you are interested in any of the above, please contact Catherine Webb in the AHUA office.
