UK higher education is not moving towards a single shared future. This session examines where different groups may be heading by 2030 and what underlies the numbers. Which institutional models still appear sustainable? Where might more fundamental choices be unavoidable? And how could changes in research activity, academic portfolios, organisational structures and collaboration reshape the sector? Institutions will also need to decide how and when to respond. That means making difficult choices across established organisational boundaries, maintaining momentum through uncertainty and involving colleagues who may already be tired of repeated change. It will give AHUA members space to consider where their own institution may be heading, what could alter that direction and the window for leadership to make choices.
