Free Online Event

The OfS has released their latest Free Speech Guidance (June 19th), designed to assist institutions in fulfilling their new responsibilities under the Higher Education (Freedom of Speech) Act. With these duties coming into force in just six weeks, AHUA is hosting a vital conversation with Arif Ahmed, Director for Freedom of Speech and Academic Freedom at the Office for Students.

Chaired by Midlands Region Chair Richard Taylor, this event offers a crucial opportunity to delve into areas of nuance and discuss the practicalities of balancing sometimes competing expectations between free speech and other legal duties.

We are currently finalising specific details for the event with the OfS, and further pre-event information will be sent to all registered attendees. Please note that during meetings and engagements, the OfS Director for Freedom of Speech and Academic Freedom typically cannot comment on specific cases or examples.

Don’t miss this essential discussion as the sector prepares for these significant changes
