Date: Thursday 10th April
Time: 8.30 – 9.45
Facilitator: Richard Taylor, Chief Operating Officer, Loughborough University
Hot on the heels of the establishment of a new national group to encourage transformation in the sector, comes news that JISC, after dialogue with HMRC, have just closed their Shared Services Group (established in 2014 at the time of the last transformation narrative) which aimed to facilitate cost-efficient shared services for the higher education and further education sectors.
This session will explore why approaches to transformation seem to get repeatedly stuck in the mud in our sector and asks what are the characteristics of successful change? By recognising the reality of the challenges in transforming complex, diverse, unionised and stakeholder rich institutions, in a highly complex regulatory environment, do we stand a better chance of succeeding?
This session therefore is not designed to oppose change – but rather to share experience so that important change has a better chance of succeeding, away from hubristic calls of transformation.
The session is for members (including Associate and Overseas Members) only.
