Experience Exchange with Rachel Holmes

Registration is now closed
  • Would you like to talk to peers about issues you’re facing in your institution right now?
  • Do you need a confidential space to discuss challenges and options for dealing with them?
  • Would you value hearing how other institutions are getting to grips with similar challenges?
Experience Exchange sessions offer quick, practical support to members dealing with the impact of C-19 on their institutions and other day-to-day challenges.  Groups will be facilitated and consist of a maximum of 7 members. You might use the time to unpack a challenge you’re facing right now, get advice on a particular issue, share best practice or simply listen to how others are dealing with things. It doesn’t matter how big or small the subject; it’s whatever you would find most useful on the day. The meetings will take place using Zoom and will be entirely confidential. If you need some input to practical problems or would just like to hear how other institutions are managing the challenges presented by C-19, these short get-togethers could offer invaluable advice and assistance – and even a bit of light relief. Here’s what others have said about previous sessions: “This was a welcome opportunity to talk about work challenges with people who understood but were outside the normal sphere of daily interaction. It was cathartic to be reassured that the problems, frustrations, challenges and indeed successes that I am facing in dealing with the current situation are also being experienced by colleagues in diverse other institutions”. Alastair Merrill, Vice-Principal (Governance), University of St Andrews “It created the space just for a conversation with peers/colleagues which in itself was valuable as well as hearing others’ thoughts and perspectives on issued raised”. Helen Cutting, University Secretary, Teesside University “It was really good to be able to share problems and insights with colleagues who have a deep understanding of the work and to reaffirm that we are not alone in the issues we face. I think these kinds of meetings are more valuable now than they ever were and the more AHUA is able to convene the better”. Irene Birrell, College Secretary, King’s College London If you can’t make it on 15th July but would be interested in joining a future session, please contact the AHUA office.
